I didn't end up printing because they were having problems at the time, and I wanted to make the critiques in time. This probably won't be the one I use for the final print, but it's currently the most developed & what I'd used as the initial WIP (I added more depth to the background ...hopefully. It still looks undefined though), and I wanted to make the deadline.
I like the curve of the background to the left - the land moves from foreground shape back the second similar shape like a C. I wonder if you have lost something in contrast in this version? The darkness around was quite mysterious in the last one. Think through what the little clouds mean. Why are they there? We are outdoors? The are somehow emanations of the pink form? Don't put them there mearely as decorative "stuff." Be true to your inspiration. What are those shapes on the left? Why are there two? Could there be more behind these? Maybe somehow following another C shape moving back into space like the one mentioned above (plane on the left), and the C shapes of all the tendrils everywhere and the pink form and the other pink form at the lower right too. (I like the echoing C shapes everywhere.) Where are we? You don't have to tell us everything, but you should think about how to make this dramatic - as dramatic as you can? As mysterious as you can? As surrealist as you can? Nice odd work. (I do that too.) Good luck. You know, btw, that you are on a team doing Hansel and Gretel project....
